Frequently Asked Questions

Do you specialize in retirement planning?

Yes.  The primary focus of my practice is helping clients prepare for, transition into and live in retirement.  That includes an intense focus on areas like asset allocation, investment planning, Social Security, Medicare, long-term care, distribution planning, life insurance, estate planning and lifestyle planning to name a few.

What licenses and designations do you have?

I have a variety of Securities licenses, including the Series 7, 24, 28, 63 and 65.  In addition, I hold the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor Designation (CRPC) through the College for Financial Planning.  I’m a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and a past Board Member of FPA Nebraska.

What company do you work for?

I am the Vice President of Teckmeyer Financial Services in Omaha, Nebraska.  It is a full service investment firm and I’ve worked there since 1995.  Teckmeyer Financial is a Broker/Dealer and a Registered Investment Advisor and is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and The Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).  If you become a client, all broker/dealer and advisory services are provided through Teckmeyer Financial.

What is Intentional Retirement?

Intentional Retirement is a website where I publish regular articles related to both the financial and non-financial aspects of retirement.  The information is general in nature and is not intended as advice for your specific situation.  If you hire me to help with your retirement planning, you will be a client of Teckmeyer Financial Services, not Intentional Retirement.  Teckmeyer Financial and Intentional Retirement are not related companies.

Can you work with clients in a variety of states?

Yes.  I am licensed in a number of states.  Tell me where you live and I’ll tell you if we can work together.

How do you charge?

Your initial meeting is free and there is no obligation.  If we decide to work together after that, I am primarily a fee based planner with a fiduciary obligation to my clients.  That means I either charge a flat fee for one time projects or I charge an asset based fee for ongoing advice and asset management.  I explain the fee structure in detail at our first meeting so you know exactly what the fees will be before committing to anything.

p.s. Just to be clear, this site is in no way related to my employment at Teckmeyer Financial. It is simply a place for me to aggregate my writing and make it available to anyone who finds it useful. The information is general in nature and is not intended to be advice for your specific situation. For that type of advice you can contact me using one of the methods above and we can talk further.
