“If there is one guy who can give you the straight and simple truth about retirement, it’s Joe Hearn. As a speaker he is excellent, and his book is one of the best I’ve read. It should be titled Retirement—Plain and Simple.”

Who I am
My name is Joe Hearn and I’m a writer, blogger, speaker and financial planner. For more than 20 years, my career has revolved around helping people achieve a secure, meaningful retirement doing the things they want with the people they love. As often as possible, I like to take that message on the road and speak to people about what it takes to have a remarkable retirement.
What I talk about
Retirement is more than a math problem. Yes, it’s important to figure out how much you need to fund your retirement, but it’s just as important to have a plan for finding meaning and purpose during your retirement years. Because of that, my talks often cover both the money and meaning of a successful retirement.
Who I talk to
I have spoken to variety of groups, both large (hundreds) and small (a few dozen). This includes faculty and staff at both high schools and universities. In the weeks leading up to each event, I work closely with the organizer to understand their goals and the makeup of the audience so I can tailor my talk for maximum impact. Public schools, universities, businesses, non-profits,

Susan Oakley, Director of Employee Relations, Texas Christian University (TCU)
“Joe Hearn has been a frequent speaker to our faculty and staff at TCU. His common sense approach to living a rich and full life in retirement is both reassuring and encouraging. Many financial advisers can help you build your nest egg. Joe does that and more. His goal is to help you live life to the fullest while making sure you have the means to do so. We at TCU love him!”
Laura Hunter, Marketing Director, Westminster Canterbury
Joe Hearn came highly recommended as a speaker/writer in tune with today’s retirees. We were not disappointed. The insight he offered as he explored the various ways to handle not only the retirement process, but strategies to manage and plan for the “what ifs” that life brings, proved to be very beneficial to all who attended.
Fred Wallace, Programming Chair of LA Chapter of AAII
I invited Joe to address our group on the challenges of managing retirement cash flow in a low interest rate environment. Joe was very well informed and gave a thoughtful and timely presentation. I received excellent feedback from our chapter members.
